Arizona Teen Charged with Attempted Murder of Parents Following Mother's Day Dispute; Had Been Planning For Years

19-year-old Jeremiah Estel Blair of Arizona has been charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder after he opened fire on his parents, a few hours after Mother's Day. Blair had been planning the attack for years due to his dissatisfaction with his upbringing. His confession revealed that his plan was deliberate and he felt neglected.

Blair's father saw him brandishing a pistol and a video camera, setting off a terrifying sequence of events. He shot his father in the forearm, alluding to the much-anticipated day, and then shot his mother in the chest as she came out of their bedroom. Blair expressed sorrow for his parents' survival and acknowledged that his acts were bad even if he had tried to murder them. Both parents were admitted to the hospital in stable condition.

The incident comes after a horrific murder-suicide case in California, where a man shot and killed his wife, four-year-old twins, and himself. Authorities found a full magazine and a revolver inside the family's residence.
