An employee at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse claimed to be terminated from her job after supporting President Trump’s immigration policies.
The Daily Caller reported the school telling Kim Dearman March 13 would be her last day.
They obtained documents which said she was fired for abusive language and “conduct unbecoming a University employee.”
Attorney Lee J. Fehr represents her and sent a letter to the school’s board of rectors.
“Ms. Dearman told a co-worker that she supported President Trump’s position on immigration. She felt Trump was doing the correct thing by keeping terrorists out of the United States. She felt that those immigrants should go back where they came from. She was terminated because of her political speech in support of President Trump.”
UWL Chancellor Joe Gow sent out an email January 30, 2017, expressing the university’s grave concerns about Trump’s immigration executive orders.
“Like so many of you, the UW leadership team and I are shocked and saddened by President Donald Trump’s order prohibiting refugees and people from certain predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States,” said Gow and the UWL administrators. “Here at UWL we do not discriminate based on a person’s religion or country of origin, and it is very troubling to see the leader of our country doing exactly that.”
It was in response to this email Dearman expressed her views on Trump. Gow retracted parts of it February 1 after it gained a lot of criticism.
The Associated Press report Gow saying she was not let go over politics.
“I want to be very clear. We would never let someone go based on their political beliefs. We always follow due process and policy if anyone is let go.”
