Willie Nelson To Hold First Public Concert For Political Candidate — Backs Beto O’Rourke

A lot of conservative fans of Willie Nelson aren’t happy with his latest choice.

Nelson has chosen to back Democrat candidate Beto O’Rourke against Sen. Ted Cruz in the Texas 2018 Midterms.

Nelson performed for Jimmy Carter 38 years ago today. He was liberal before his tax woes. He left Nashville because he didn’t want to live the conventional country music life. I don’t agree with this choice, but it’s no surprise.

After bringing Beto O’Rourke onstage during his Fourth of July Picnic this summer, Willie Nelson is doubling down on his support of the U.S. Senate candidate, headlining a rally and concert set for Sept. 29 at Auditorium Shores.

A press release from Nelson’s publicist describes the event as “the first public concert Nelson has held for a political candidate.”

My wife Annie and I have met and spoken with Beto and we share his concern for the direction things are headed,” Nelson said in the press release. “Beto embodies what is special about Texas, an energy and an integrity that is completely genuine.”

Celebrities take your money, lots of it, and use it to destroy you. In some cases, I understand it when it comes to the Hollywood crowd. If you enjoy a good movie occasionally, you are pretty much stuck with the looney tune left that makes up 90 percent of Hollywood.

Country Western is a different story and is the polar opposite of Hollywood. There are hundreds of conservatives who are celebrities and producing great County and Western music. Nelson’s life journey and music have been a mainstay for many conservatives for generations.

Just because Nelson might have switched doesn’t mean you can’t listen to his music. Do you agree?
