Were Obama and Clinton Crafting Security Failure Excuses as Early as September 12, 2012?

I am no conspiracy theorist. I do not even play one on TV, but when researching the article A Tale of Two Presidents, I read a line from Obama’s September 12, 2012 Rose Garden speech I cannot seem to shake.

On September 11, 2012 terrorists attacked our consulate in Benghazi, Libya, killing U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.

After the attack, Obama’s administration began what would be the first of several lies told to the American people, blaming the Benghazi terrorist attack on a ’spontaneous demonstration as a result of a YouTube video’.  A demonstration that never occurred.

During the 2012 Presidential Debate, CNN’s Candy Crowley saved Obama’s day and drew much attention to his September 12th Rose Garden speech addressing Benghazi.

Crowley happened to have a copy of the speech transcript and used it to claim President Obama referred to the Benghazi attack as terrorism.  He did not.  However, the ‘acts of terror’ line is not the one I cannot shake, but rather it was this one, two years after the fact that gave me pause. Referring to Ambassador Stevens, Obama said:

When the Qaddafi regime came to an end, Chris was there to serve as our ambassador to the new Libya, and he worked tirelessly to support this young democracy, and I think both Secretary Clinton and I relied deeply on his knowledge of the situation on the ground there.

Maybe I am reading too much into this line, but in politics every word is carefully chosen, leaving just enough wiggle room to get out of a jam.

The YouTube video narrative was being crafted, on September 14, 2012 while accepting her son’s remains, Sean Smith’s mother was assured the administration would do everything within its power to bring the producer of the YouTube video to justice. Not the terrorists.

The question I have is this.  Was the line referring to both Clinton and Obama relying on Ambassador’s Stevens ‘knowledge of the situation on the ground in [Libya]’ setting the stage for a narrative to blame Stevens and his team for security failures we now know occurred?  Maybe the better question is, would such a line stand out if not for the numerous lies Obama told the American people?
