[VIDEO] Not Again: Two Athletes and their Young Daughters Tragically Killed on Way to Sporting Event in Devastating Crash

Another devastating crash has taken the lives of 4 people way too soon.

And this crash has some haunting similarities to what happened to Kobe and his daughter Gigi.

The two women were former volleyball champions and they were traveling to a volleyball tournament when a pickup truck crossed the barrier and hit their minivan.

The mothers were killed instantly and the two daughters died later at the hospital.

Carrie McCaw, 44, and her 12-year-old daughter Kacey and Lesley Prather, 40, and her 12-year-old daughter Rhyan were on their way to a club volleyball tournament in Kansas City, Missouri, when a pickup truck crossed the barrier and barreled into the westbound lanes, where it hit their minivan, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The truck driver, 29-year-old Elijah Henderson, survived the crash but is in serious condition.

McCaw played basketball and volleyball at Assumption High School in Louisville before enrolling at Syracuse from 1994 to 1997, where she setting the university record for matches played in a season and is second in career matches played, according to a statement from the school.

After graduating, she spent a year at Rutgers as the assistant volleyball coach before moving on.
She’s survived by her husband, David, and their three other children.

Prather played volleyball at the University of Louisville from 1998 to 2001, making three conference championships, four NCAA appearances and one Sweet Sixteen cameo.

“This will never, ever, ever make sense. I can’t wrap my head around this,” her former Louisville teammate Stacey Mercer said in a statement from the school. “I’m struggling to put into words how beautiful and powerful of a human Lesley was. She was such a fierce yet loving soul and someone I always looked up to. Lesley is the type of superhuman we should truly all aspire to be. Lesley and her sweet girl are so fiercely loved and missed.” [New York Daily News]

Of course, I don’t need to point out the parallels between this and Kobe’s tragic end and everyone on that helicopter.

It’s just very sad to see yet another two families suffer such tragic loss.
