Let me be clear before I start this post, Lt Gov Justin Fairfax has categorically denied sexually assaulting Vanessa Tyson and now Meredith Watson.
Fairfax claims there is a smear campaign against him that would remove him as a replacement for Governor Ralph Northam if he were to step down because of his ‘blackface’ controversy.
“I did not sexually assault Meredith Watson, Vanessa Tyson or anyone else, and the truth will help to confirm that statement, and we’re looking forward to these independent investigations to get at the truth.”
Just a few days ago when Watson came out with her accusation which made it two, I realized what was happening to Fairfax and if you look back at the last 2-3 years, one you might be able to fight, but two sexual assault allegations within a week? Let me also add the victims to have detailed statements and you have no proof? You’re done buddy.
Four staffers working for embattled Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax resigned Monday, leaving him with a skeleton crew as calls grow for him to step down amid two sexual assault allegations.
Fairfax’s policy director, Adele McClure, and scheduler, Julia Billingsly, both called it quits Monday, as did David Mills and Courtney McCargo, two employees of his We Rise Together political action committee, Fairfax’s spokeswoman Lauren Burke said.
Mills is a former executive director of the Democratic Party of Virginia and is married to state Democratic Sen. Jennifer McClellan, the vice chair of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus, which has called on Fairfax to step down.
The departures were first reported by the Richmond Times Dispatch and confirmed by Fox News. Fairfax is accused of sexual assault in two cases that date back nearly two decades.
