TV One Cancels Former CNN Employee Roland Martin Morning Show

Nobody should be happy about someone losing their job because it will always come back and usually in a wrong way.

However, that’s just something I am going to have to deal with when it happens. TV One announced that Roland Martin’s “NewsOne Now” morning show was going to be canceled due to budget cuts caused by financial difficulties they’ve suffered in recent months.

Michelle Rice, TV One’s Interim General Manager, sent out a member to inform the staff that they had until December 21 before the lights were turned off on the last broadcast.

Three months ago, the show was given one extra hour so you can only imagine how many of the staff were caught off guard by the end of the year decision.

Martin had been broadcasting his show for close to four years after CNN canned him. His politics is just something people don’t want, no matter how much the network heads force him on the public. His race-baiting turns people’s stomach, and while he continues to be tone deaf to those who might give him a chance, he doubles down on stupidity for not changing formats for success.

Martin went to Twitter to inform his group of followers that the show was done:

“Fam, the sad news is true. The staff of @tvonetv #NewsnewOneNow was informed this afternoon that after four years of doing groundbreaking and award-winning work, the show will cease production at the end of the year.”

If you do not remember why Martin was fired for CNN, it wasn’t just the race-baiting, in 2012, he was wrapped up in a controversy over homophobic tweets, and that is what sealed his fate. I always thought he was fruity anyway, and I still do, but that’s his thing.

Americans need an alternative to the mainstream media. That’s why we exist. Donate $10 today and help us continue to fight!

If I were Martin, I would look in the mirror and think about changing things. He couldn’t make it on a white network, and now he’s getting booted from a black network. The only thing left is Univision, and he’s going to have to change his thinking if he wants that gig.
