Obama’s Anchor Baby Program (DAPA) Was Just Rescinded By Trump

The Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) program implemented under Barack Obama has been rescinded by President Trump.

DAPA is essentially the anchor baby program stating that if kids born to foreign nationals were considered Americans, their parents could stay.

The Dream Act did not make it through Congress to become a law, which is why there is Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). DAPA was greatly hampered as it was blocked by the courts and tied up in the court system. If you ask me DAPA was far more insidious and dangerous than DACA, and I’m glad we are done with that Obama attempt to undermine our sovereignty.

The Trump administration has fulfilled another one of Donald Trump’s campaign promises by rescinding the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) program implemented under Barack Obama that could have allowed as many as five million illegal aliens with children who are citizens or lawful permanent residents to remain in the country if they met certain criteria.

DAPA was blocked by the courts from implementation, which the Department of Homeland Security cited as a reason for rescinding the program. A DHS press released said Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly signed a memorandum rescinding DAPA on Thursday because “there is no credible path forward to litigate the currently enjoined policy.”

The program had been challenged by 26 states after Obama issued it in November 2014. The Supreme Court deadlocked when ruling on the constitutionality of the program in June 2016, splitting the vote 4-4 due to the empty seat at the time left by late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

One of Trump’s signature campaign promises was that he would rescind both DAPA and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program if elected president.

The DHS press release added, however, that the June 2012 Obama memorandum creating DACA will remain in effect. That program applies to certain illegal aliens in the U.S. who arrived as children and met specific criteria.

Way too many politicians have erroneously claimed that the Fourteenth Amendment guarantees citizenship to anyone born on American soil, the reality is that is not the law and has never been the law. This has been one of the biggest lies ever perpetrated against the people of this nation.

Anchor babies are a thing of the past, maybe a thing of never. What is still in effect is the consideration of the children, who know no home other than America, and their status is not known as the first reading by the SCOTUS was deadlocked, no final decision. That program is DACA and lends consideration until a constitutionality judgment clarifies their status. But their parents have no legal basis to stay based on their children’s nationality.

Does anyone in America notice that Trump is keeping his promises and he keeps on moving forward reminds me of the Energizer Bunny, just go on beating his drum and moving on? A brilliant move by President Trump.
