Mulvaney Being Floated As Replacement For Kelly After Porter Remarks

President Trump is not happy he didn’t learn about these allegations in advance or that his Chief of Staff defended Rob Porter over a series of statements.

Reports are now that Gen Michael Kelly knew about these allegations last September and still kept Porter employed. You can blame the media all you want to over this, it’s a public relations nightmare and now they are attacking President Trump over his statements on Porter.

All of this could have been handled properly if Kelly had done his job.

Sources told NBC News that Trump is angry over Kelly’s statements on Porter, specifically his initial defense of the top aide following allegations of abuse. According to sources, Trump has openly talked about replacing Kelly.

NBC News reports that Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney is one of the names Trump has floated to replace his chief of staff.

Porter resigned Wednesday after reports surfaced with allegations of physical and verbal abuse by two of his ex-wives.

Kelly on Tuesday defended Porter as a “man of true integrity and honor” after reports of the alleged abuse first emerged, but later said he was “shocked” by the allegations and insisted that there is “no place for domestic violence in our society.”

The chief of staff’s backtracking, however, hasn’t been enough to stave off backlash.
