Democrats just lost another talking point against President Trump.
Democrats on social media and in the opposition media have been clamoring about federal workers not getting paid due to the government shutdown and members of the President’s cabinet receiving raises. Well, now that argument is n longer on the table.
This is a smart move on the part of the President since it removes a poor optic that Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer could hit him with. He should take it a step further and issue an executive order canceling the pay increase entirely and then point out that he’s once again doing the work that Congress should be doing but isn’t.
The Trump administration announced late Friday night that it would freeze a pay raise for Vice President Mike Pence, members of the cabinet and other high-ranking political appointees in light of the partial government shutdown.
The high-level officials were positioned to receive a raise of about $10,000 a year — which was to go into effect on Saturday — as 800,000 federal employees were entering their third week without pay.
The increases were the result of Congress’s failure to renew a longstanding freeze on raises for high-ranking officials and political appointees. An extension of the freeze was included in the spending bills funding multiple government agencies that were not acted on before the expiration on Thursday of the 115th Congress.
But on Friday night, the Office of Personnel Management announced that “it would be prudent for agencies to continue to pay these senior political officials at the frozen rate until appropriations legislation is enacted that would clarify the status of the freeze.”

This is what social media were complaining about before Trump made this decision:
So it’s your Cabinet and Senior Advisor in White House all get a 10.000$ pay raise but 800.00 government employees mostly on low income levels get currently nada, nil, zero and all the rest of the government employees don’t get their inflation pay rise. Correct?

You should stop giving money to the rich (like a $10,000 raise to your cabinet) but forbidding a tiny 2.1% pay raise to federal employees who begin the new year furloughed or working without pay. Soon the base will realize the bones you throw them do not put food on the table.
