Trump at Rally Rips Biden’s Plan to ‘Scale Back’ Campaign: ‘If I Ever Did That, It Would Be Over’

By PoliZette Staff | August 16, 2019

Addressing a packed house on Thursday night at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester during a MAGA rally, President Donald Trump told attendees that the campaign of Joe Biden was a “disaster” following a report that the 2020 Democratic frontrunner might be trimming back public appearances after many weeks of making verbal errors.

“If I ever did that [scaled back appearances], it would be over,” the president told the crowd in Manchester.

“The fake news would get us.”

A report on Thursday in The Hill suggested that unidentified “Biden allies” want the candidate, who is 76, to limit his campaign stops before the 2020 election, as Fox News also pointed out.

They apparently feel this would help prevent any bad publicity that might ensue from verbal blunders Biden seems to continue making during appearances and speeches.

It’s no surprise that Trump, at his rally, brought up the issue.

“Is there anything better than a Trump rally?” he asked the crowd, drawing cheers and applause from those in attendance.

“What about a Sleepy Joe Biden rally? I think Sleepy Joe may be able to limp across the finish line,” Trump also said.

“But today they announced that they’re going to cut way back on his appearances because he is such a disaster.”

Biden’s verbal slip-ups have seemed to occur regularly on the campaign trail — many people on both sides of the aisle have pointed out the issue.

Just recently, the former vice president claimed to support “truth over facts” during a speech at the Iowa State Fair, as Fox News noted.

He also incorrectly said that two high-profile mass tragedies occurred in Michigan and Houston.

They actually occurred in Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas.

A Fox News Poll published on Thursday showed Biden ahead of Trump by 12 points, as the outlet reported.

David Alexrod, a former adviser to Barack Obama, on Thursday claimed that any scaling back of Biden’s campaign schedule would only hurt the former vice president’s chances of success in his effort to win the White House.

“This is bad advice. You can’t cloister the candidate and win,” Axelrod tweeted.

“He either can cut it or he can’t, and the only way he can prove he can is to be an active and vigorous candidate. He’s running for president of the United States, for God’s sake!”

Adding to his growing list of gaffes, Biden mistakenly said he had met with students who survived a mass tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, while he was vice president.

But that terrible incident happened in February 2018 — about a year after Biden left his post as vice president.
