How do you fight your former self when they have all your attributes and none of your weaknesses?
It seems that de-aging technology will be a move that saves a lot of filmmaking in the future. For those that didn’t watch Marvel’s Captain Marvel, actor Samuel L. Jackson was turned into his younger self through CGO, and now Will Smith picks up the tricks for his new movie trailer “Gemini Man,” that was released on Tuesday.
Ang Lee is the director of this futuristic thriller where an older Smith plays an assassin hunting a man who knows his every move, only to discover that the target is his clone. The younger Smith resembles what we have come to know as the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, but this is far from that television series.
“This story is not one that could have been told with cinema as we know it. However, thanks to incredible new digital technology, not only can we finally see both younger and older Will Smith embodied together on screen, but we can also experience the story in a deeply immersive way. It is my great fortune to be able to experiment and test the limits of what new digital cinema has to offer us. No less so to be able to work with two Will Smiths – one beautifully sophisticated, the other exuberantly honest,” ,” director Lee said in a statement.
All in all, I am intrigued by the plot, and the trailer is a serious one.
