The left has officially lost it: $10/hour minimum wage is a principle as old as the Bible

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn joined the freaks at MSNBC to discuss a minimum wage hike. Why anyone would want to hear what a Democrat from the largely failing state of Illinois had to say on matters of economics is beyond me, however, this is MSNBC so in that context, it makes perfect sense.

According to Governor Pat Quinn,

There’s a principle as old as the Bible that if you work 40 hours a week you shouldn’t have to live in poverty,

Anyone else notice that the loony left only refers to a “higher power” when it fits their agenda? And don’t you love the way liberals misquote the Bible, while at the same time declaring that you are a potential theocrat if you do the same? I eagerly await the outraged complaint from the Freedom from Religion Foundation.

He went on to tell the MSNBC viewers that,

This is a fundamental principle that we want to carry out across our state and indeed across our country.

Last time I checked, the Bible says absolutely nothing about working hard to get out of poverty. In fact, in biblical times people worked pretty much from dawn to dusk 6 days a week, and were still so poor that they were lucky if they could feed their family every day. And never mind that the 40-hour workweek was an innovation of the Industrial Revolution.

I was waiting to hear Quinn make mention of what the Bible has to say about what happens when the 40 hour work week is cut to 30 hours because of Obamacare and other leftist policies. I digress..

The fact of the matter is that the federal government has no business telling business owners how much they must pay people. The federal government and its economic central planners are incompetent and power hungry.
