An important book the grassroots must embrace.
Our Fourth Branch of government – The Regulators – not only has the power to investigate and regulate your business, should you dare disagree with the findings, they also become the judge, jury and executioner deciding your fate.
Unelected bureaucrats with little to no private sector experience are given unchecked power. The fourth branch of government, replacing the three that were intended to avoid tyrannical behavior, wields its power by taking their four outstretched fingers, wrapping them around their thumb, and becoming the fist responsible for pounding out any resistance.
The Regulators have more power, more money and more time than do business owners, and they know it. 99.9% of business owners understand this as well and choose to pay their penance and kiss the hand of government hoping if they are quiet and complicit enough, they will live another day.
Apparently Michael J. Daugherty CEO of LabMD, a small cancer detection business owner, did not receive the memo. Although research showed FTC enforcement has won 100% administrative cases and that LabMD’s fate was already sealed, Daugherty chose to fight.
The costs of the fight have been great. LabMD was forced out of business because Daugherty refused to be beaten into submission by the fist of The Regulators and accept the punishment for a crime not committed.
On March 20, 2014, Cause of Action and LabMD filed suit in Georgia to stop FTC’s overreach and to put an end to a four-year abuse of administrative power.
The FTC had hoped that the fly in the ointment would go away if they could confuse, distract and delay long enough, but they do not know Michael j Daugherty.
Daugherty’s four year fight is documented in The Devil Inside the Beltway and he tells the story of not what could happen to you as a business owner, because it already is, you simply have not been placed in the government’s crosshairs. Not yet anyway.
Please continue to check back as I write a series of articles on Daugherty’s The Devil Inside the Beltway and spread the word. This is an important book, and it needs our support because if he fails, who among us will be brave enough to take on Goliath?
