Lawmakers Tentatively Agree To 1.375 Billion For Border Barriers; 55 New Miles Of Bollard Fencing

Initially, in October 2018, Sen. Mitch McConnell “told the Washington Examiner the Senate wouldn’t stick to the $1.6 billion wall funding included in the Senate’s 2019 Homeland Security Appropriations measure.”

America, Democrats, lose nothing in this deal, nothing and by the way, they are also demanding fewer deportations and smaller holding facilities. Either the Republicans are stupid, or they can’t negotiate worth a damn.

Let me reiterate; it seems this agreement that both sides have come up with is “less” than the initial lowball number. How will Trump followers support this? Rep. Nancy Pelosi said Pres. Trump wouldn’t get a dollar, will this suffice?

BREAKING: Lawmakers say they have reached an “agreement in principle” to avoid government shutdown.

Top lawmakers say they have reached a deal to fund the government through the fall, a deal that would resolve ongoing disputes over immigration and — if signed into law by President Trump — stave off a partial government shutdown set to start Saturday.

The deal calls for $1.375 billion for border barriers (55 new miles of bollard fencing, with certain restrictions on location). Democrats have dropped their call for a new cap on interior detention beds, and the overall cap on detention beds drops from 49,057 to 40,520.

Negotiators had made steady progress behind closed doors until rifts spilled into the open in recent days, with Democrats and Republicans angrily accusing each other of trying to sabotage the talks and raising fears that another shutdown was imminent.

The central stumbling block was Democrats’ insistence on limiting the number of undocumented immigrants who could be detained. The White House insisted on more flexibility, saying it needed the ability to tailor rules for felons and violent criminals.

This is all political grandstanding.

They had better come up with an agreement. Why have them if they can’t work together and get anything done. I mean why are we even paying some of them? Really? Come on guys and gals you are playing with a lot of peoples lives and their lively-hood. Any way you slice it you are hurting the very people you were sworn to help. Now you have that chance, and it appears that you are blowing it.
