Rep. Steny Hoyer’s Not Waiting For Pres. Trump’s Response — “The State of the Union is off”

The government is partially shut down, and the Democrats have used their time to travel to Hawaii and Puerto Rico. They have tried to put a face on this shutdown and label it Pres. Trump mostly because he said he would own it if that is what happened. The problem with their petulant strategy is they are the bottlenecks. They are the reason why the government remains shut down and according to a new Politico poll, it’s not affecting many Americans at this point.

Democrats are trying to push Pres. Trump into a corner and command him like a dog. This is the most disrespect I’ve seen since the Senate Republicans placed sanctions on Russia and added a stipulation in the legislation that Pres. Trump couldn’t waive them. That happened in 2017.

Rep. Steny Hoyer, second behind Pelosi in the House, told CNN that the State Of the Union is off and he repeated it. Here’s the problem with that statement, Hoyer and the Democrats can’t stop the State of the Union. They can stop Pres. Trump from visiting the House of Representatives to give his speech but they can’t stop him from giving his speech.

“The State of the Union is off,” Hoyer told CNN.

In light of the government shutdown, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Wednesday morning suggested to President Trump to work with her on rescheduling his Jan. 29 State of the Union address or give his prepared remarks to Congress on paper.

Ultimately, the decision rests with Pelosi, not Trump.

“What if the president — I don’t know — responds with ‘No?’ He wants to keep the date. Any chance that he could convince you otherwise?” CNN anchor Kate Bolduan asked Hoyer.

“No. Our response will be: ‘Mr. President, if you want to open up the government the Senate has seven bills they can use and we’ll send an eighth bill tomorrow,’” Hoyer said.

In its fourth week, this partial government shutdown is the longest in U.S. history.

I wonder if this has been done to any President before. Do you know of any Commander-in-chief that has received this amount of disrespect because he wanted to protect Americans and their families?
