Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and other members of the Gang of Five, which consists of Sens. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Dick Durbin of Illinois and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, are seemingly threatening the United States Court to vote the way it directs on a gun control case, or face the possibility of a Democratically controlled government in the future which could vastly overhaul the court itself and how it conducts business.
Their document brief references gun owners challenging New York City restrictions on their right to carry firearms. But the language in the document seems to go farther than the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. City of New York case. These Democrats argue that the United States Supreme Court has been virtually hijacked by conservatives.
“With bare partisan majorities, the court has influence sensitive areas like voting rights, partisan gerrymandering, dark money, union power, regulation of pollution, corporate liability and access to federal court, particularly regarding civil rights and discrimination in the workplace. Every single time, the corporate and Republican political interests prevailed,” the brief states.
“Today, fifty-five percent of Americans believe the Supreme Court is ‘mainly motivated by politics’…; fifty-nine percent believe the court is ‘too influenced by politics’; and a majority now believes the ‘Supreme Court should be restructured in order to reduce the influence of politics,’” the brief states.
“The Supreme Court is not well. And the people know it. Perhaps the Court can heal itself before the public demands it be ‘restructured in order to reduce the influence of politics.’ Particularly on the urgent issue of gun control, a nation desperately needs it to heal.”

I had to pick my chin up off the table. I can’t believe what I just read. Well I can, but. The hammer needs to come down hard on these people! Threatening the courts! Do they really think no one was going to find out? This is exactly why I keep saying everyone needs to make sure they vote in 2020. Offer rides for people who have no way to get there. Dems want trump out so bad that this will be a very close election.
I don’t recognize the government’s power or authority to pass gun control laws. They don’t seem to understand the U.S. Constitution expressly forbids them that power yet they try to usurp it at every opportunity. I say stretch the neck of any politician involved in these power grab gun control laws.
I am also thinking with all the anti-American sentiment coming out of Hirono’s mouth maybe Hawaii just need to have their independence back. See if they can live off pineapples and Kona coffee.
