Many conservative media websites are reporting that Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel has been fired.
Sheriff Israel of the Parkland massacre has told his friends he expected to get fired when new Governor Ron DeSantis took office, but that hasn’t been done yet. The news of the “firing” spread like wildfire because everyone wanted it to happen but John Cardillo’s Twitter account had been following the story, and he continued to monitor the situation until he tweeted this:
OK, Broward Sheriff Scott Israel IS NOT yet suspended.
Many of us got bad source info. It happens. All we can do is correct the record.

Miami Herald also reported Broward Sheriff Scott Israel is telling staff he’s being suspended over Parkland school shooting response, but it’s not a done deal yet.
The governor’s office has not confirmed any action, but here’s what newly sworn-in Governor Ron DeSantis had to say on the issue:
Sheriff Scott Israel Says He's Going to Be Suspended

Unfortunately for FOX, its Twitter image card still bears the false headline that Gov. @RonDeSantisFL suspended Broward Sheriff Scott Israel. DeSantis did not. Yet. FOX went offsides and used bad sources to do so. The story is more accurate but it should come with a correction pic.twitter.com/Vi3oiZyT9y
