Sen. Chuck Schumer got destroyed on Monday for retreating and surrendering his government shutdown and now is backpedaling on funding the border wall.
And Schumer said President Trump is an unreliable dealmaker and was like jello when negotiating.
Schumer is being defined by his inefficacy. The only reason he has “refined” his wall funding offer to Trump is that he blew it so poorly on the whole shutdown show. His base hates him for caving, so he backs off on a prior commitment to protect his flank.
When we get to Shutdown v.2 on February 8th, just watch Trump remind Schumer of this little about-face. Democrats don’t want a wall because they want to keep the flow of illegals coming because it means votes. Their thinking….to hell with U.S. citizens. I think the Democrats are prepared to die on that hill and that’s a good thing for the 2018 Midterms.

The Senate minority leader, through an aide, informed the White House on Monday that he was retracting the offer he made last week to give Trump well north of the $1.6 billion in wall funding Trump had asked for this year, according to two Democrats. And now they say Trump will simply not get a better deal than that on his signature campaign promise.
Schumer “took it off,” said Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, the No. 2 Senate Democrat. “He called the White House yesterday and said it’s over.”
Republicans aligned with Trump are unlikely to go for any bill that does not offer a major boost in border wall funding, given the president’s strong feelings about the issue. Moreover, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) said he was skeptical of Schumer’s recollection of the meeting and the border wall offer anyway.
“They claim that some crazy deal was made,” Cotton said of Democrats. “And then when we say no deal was made, they accuse Republicans and the president of reneging.”

This is rich. So Chucky Schumer expects McConnell to keep his word to bring a vote to the floor. However, he’s not keeping his word to include funding the wall in DACA negotiations. You can’t make this stuff up.
DACA has nothing to do with the spending bill; I don’t know why they are pushing this issue. No funding for the wall, say goodbye to DACA protection. Poor Chuckie just wrote the death sentence for the six Democrats that are up for reelection in states that President Trump won handily… 55 to 56 Senate seats will be in Pug control come next January.
