Russell Simmons is going on a journey to find spiritual enlightenment in the middle of Hollywood’s chaos.
Sidney Lumet’s daughter, Jenny, is the second sexual assault claim against Simmons in the last two weeks. He walked the first one off but this one, he’s leaving the industry. I wonder if there should be any lawsuits filed after this. Then again, what took Jenny so long to come out. Her father was a huge name in Hollywood so it’s not like Simmons could do anything to her.

There should be no defending him; it appears he’s aware of these situations and his actions. I’m sure his recollection isn’t as clear as the victims because he hasn’t had to replay this violation repeatedly in his mind, to him it was a victory NOT a violation.
We must now more than ever teach our sons and daughters to respect one another, they have to be held accountable for their actions, and their past will catch up to them, and please, please speak up, and parents listen.
Jenny, a filmmaker and daughter of director Sidney Lumet, says the alleged incident happened when Simmons offered her a ride to her Manhattan apartment. But instead, she says the Def Jam founder locked the SUV doors and took her to his place, despite her repeatedly asking to be taken home.
She claims he first forced himself on her in his elevator, and then once inside his place … he took her to the bedroom and raped her. Jenny told The Hollywood Reporter, “I made the trade in my mind. I thought, ‘just keep him calm and you’ll get home.’ Maybe another person would have thought differently, or not made the trade.”
Simmons says he has a different memory of that evening, but acknowledges Jenny’s “feelings of fear and intimidation are real.” He apologized saying he’s “been thoughtless and insensitive in some of my relationships over many decades.” He says he’s stepping down from his companies, which include Rush Communications, several clothing lines and part ownership of his baby, Def Jam.

No surprise here! Simmons will always be an icon for his hip-hop contributions as 1/2 of def jam as a brand and a movement. With that said Russell is a clown and a creep! He also was very instrumental in bringing the gangsta rap music era to the forefront to kill off the conscious substance and content from the mainstream media.
It’s only going to get worse with these cases. People are sexually assaulted every day, to be honest, it just doesn’t get reported. Mark my words, America will be changed over the next year because of all of this, I promise. I’ve worked on jobs where there was sexual misconduct/ assault from both men and women, as communication or touching triggered it.
I honestly do sympathize with the women who fear coming forward with what has happened to them in their past; I just wish they were more empowered.
