GOP Congressman Caught Texting Naked Pic In Consensual Relationship

On Wednesday, Rep. Joe Barton (TX) apologized for a graphic photo and text message that somehow made it’s way onto social media this week.

Okay, I saw the picture, and it’s gross. The text, I added below.

Even though it was nasty, this is not in the same context as Sen. Al Franken or Rep. John Conyers or the rest of the Democrats and their sexual harassment allegations, but I will give my opinion. This sounds more like a private, personal matter to me. If this is a consensual matter, I don’t see how this is any of our business.

Barton states he was in a consensual adult relationship in his apology. He sent that to a lady he was seeing, and that should be considered private. Whoever posted it should be ashamed if it is an ex that is just trying to embarrass him. For the record, this is why you should never take naked pics of yourself, and you definitely should not send them in a text if you do.

People should be careful not lump this kind of thing in with sexual misconduct, or assault. This is different. Believe it or not, adults have sensual, sexual relationships.

Texas Rep. Joe Barton, a Republican, apologized after a nude photo of him began circulating on the internet this week.

“While separated from my second wife, prior to the divorce, I had sexual relationships with other mature adult women,” Barton told the Texas Tribune. “Each was consensual. Those relationships have ended. I am sorry I did not use better judgment during those days. I am sorry that I let my constituents down.”

“You’re as aware of what was posted as I am,” he said. “I am talking to a number of people, all of whom I have faith in and am deciding how to respond, quite frankly.

The image was posted along with a screenshot of a text message purportedly sent to the woman with whom Barton had a relationship. The Twitter account that posted the images claims to be being “harassed” by Barton and having additional, unreleased footage of him performing lewd acts, according to TMZ.

Perhaps not the best judgment on his part to put anything in writing or send pics. The women reportedly involved were mature, not young, underage girls. If every man and woman who had consensual sex is reported, we’ll be reading this stuff forever! Who cares about adults having sex.

I wonder how many careers will be destroyed once we find out where that 17 million went to keep things like this hush-hush. What concerns me is that all it takes is one liar to destroy a man’s life. We need to be careful not to just buy into every story we hear.

When will people understand that what you put out on social media like that, never goes away? It is disgusting behavior. I know he says it was between consenting adults, that’s fine, but really, I do expect more out of elected officials. I guess I should not have such high expectations.

One more question, why is there a need to apologize? If he is a grown man with a grown women, it should be a private matter leave it there, but Democrats will try to find anything I guess.
