Rep. Rashida Tlaib has once again shown the American public; her anti-Semitic views were not a mistake or a blip on the radar of life. They are her and part of her fabric.
Her latest remarks are cringeworthy and should result in discipline, but Democrats will not answer that call. Tlaib appeared on a Yahoo News’ podcast called “Skullduggery,” where she explained her view on the Holocaust.
“There’s always kind of a calming feeling, I tell folks, when I think of the Holocaust, and the tragedy of the Holocaust, and the fact that it was my ancestors — Palestinians — who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence in many ways, have been wiped out, and some people’s passports,” Tlaib said.
“And, just all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-the Holocaust, post-the tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And, I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right, in many ways, but they did it in a way that took their human dignity away and it was forced on them.”
Tlaib flunks History 101 but gets an A in fake news and political propaganda. Palestine has never existed as an independent nation.
Whatever goodwill was exhibited has been erased by the 10s of thousands of rockets that have come from Gaza over the years. Pretty convinced the only way Israel can live in peace is a methodical sweep to push Hamas into the Mediterranean, so they no longer have the ability or desire to launch rockets. Firing 700 rockets and necessity of an Iron Dome and bomb shelters are not living in peace.
Not to mention the hundreds of bus bombings, the grenades hidden in babies’ pushchairs, suicide vests hidden in ambulances, the arms hidden in goods from Gaza into Israel, the slaughter of Yeshiva students, the killing of school kids, the monstrous forcing of children to become human shields at the border fence, hiding ammunition in schools and hospitals, using American money and money from other countries to pay families of terrorists, in some cases leading families to send their kids to be killed, just some of the altruistic ways Palestinians encourage peace in the area
Rep. Steve Scalise, House Minority Whip, released a statement:
“There is no justification for the twisted and disgusting comments made by Rashida Tlaib just days after the annual Day of Holocaust Remembrance. More than six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust; there is nothing ‘calming’ about that fact.
Unfortunately, this is far from the first display of heinous anti-Semitic comments coming from Democrat House members this year, and it’s clear this is now the norm for their caucus. It’s long past time for Speaker Pelosi to take swift action and make it clear that these vile comments have no place in Congress.”
Rep. Liz Cheney, House Republican Conference Chair, responded to Tlaib’s statement calling for Nancy Pelosi Steny Hoyer (D-MD) “to finally take action against Representative Tlaib and other members of the Democratic caucus who are spreading vile anti-Semitism.”
“All of us, regardless of party, must stand as Americans against the evil of anti-Semitism. If the Democratic leadership continues to stand by in silence, they are enabling the spread of evil. History teaches us that anti-Semitism begins with words and becomes something far worse. Speaker Pelosi and Leader Hoyer must act now,” Cheney said.
She, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Ilhan Omar are proving every day that there is no standard for ethics in the US House of Representatives. Until we see some discipline of these people, that is the only rational conclusion that can be drawn.
I love this Reagan line that I found via the Jewish Virtual Library; “We must never remain silent in the face of bigotry. We must condemn those who seek to divide us. In all quarters and at all times, we must teach tolerance and denounce racism, anti-Semitism, and all ethnic or religious bigotry wherever they exist as unacceptable evils. We have no place for haters in America — none, whatsoever.”
Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave that such a monster is in Congress!
