President Obama is always eager and ready to provide his perspective on what is happening within his administration. Most times it seems like an outsiders perspective and not one held by a man who is in charge.
Not surprisingly, he has a theory as to why he’s not as popular as he once was and I bet you’ll never guess what he has attributed it to! Get ready for it…….racism!
“There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president,” Obama said in the article by David Remnick, appearing in the magazine’s Jan. 27 edition.
“Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black president,” Obama said in his most direct comments on how race has affected his political standing since he’s been in office.
Obama’s second term has been marked by controversies including a partial government shutdown in October, revelations that the National Security Agency has gathered personal mobile phone data and the troubled rollout of health-insurance expansion.
Never mind that his signature healthcare law is imploding before our very eyes. Or that the economy is still in the crapper with jobs numbers not where they should be at this stage of a ‘recovery’… or that his foreign policies missteps are ever increasing with an even more unstable middle east…or that his administration is riddled with scandals like Benghazi, the IRS targeting, NSA leaks, etc. I could go on.
But, according to him, evidently his race and not his performance as Commander-in-Chief, is contributing to his unpopularity.
