Pelosi Responds To US-Mexico Agreement On Illegal Aliens — Tantrums Are No Way To Negotiate Foreign Policy

Believe it or not, Rep. Nancy Pelosi scolded Pres. Trump negotiations with Mexico over the late night Friday illegal immigration agreement which avoids the proposed 5% tariffs that Trump promised to start on Monday.

Pelosi chastised Trump for threats and temper tantrums as a negotiation tactic saying it was no way to handle foreign policy.

The House Speaker released a statement early Saturday saying Trump had “undermined America’s preeminent leadership role in the world” by hanging the threat of tariffs over Mexico.

“We are deeply disappointed by the Administration’s expansion of its failed Remain-in-Mexico policy, which violates the rights of asylum seekers under U.S. law and fails to address the root causes of Central American migration,” Pelosi said. “Threats and temper tantrums are no way to negotiate foreign policy.”

The statement was Pelosi’s first comment since the president on Friday, while aboard Air Force One returning from Europe, called the California Democrat “a disgrace to herself and her family” after she reportedly told fellow Democrats during a closed-door meeting earlier in the week that the president should be “in prison.” [Bloomberg]

this is in the first time that Pelosi has accused Pres. Trump of throwing a temper tantrum. just a couple weeks ago, Pelosi stood outside the White House and gave a presser that the president had thrown a temper tantrum during their meeting to discuss infrastructure.

Pelosi: “This time, another temper tantrum — again — I pray for the president of the United States. I wish that his family or his administration and staff would have an intervention for the good of the country.”
