Remember what Nancy said concerning arresting Karl Rove anyday because she had stuff on him. Or how about Newt Gingrich?
According to a report in The Huffington Post, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is backing up claims made by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) last week that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney paid nothing in taxes for a decade.
“Harry Reid made a statement that is true. Somebody told him. It is a fact,” Pelosi told The Huffington Post on Sunday. “Whether he did or not can easily be disposed of: Mitt Romney can release his tax returns and show whether he paid taxes.”
When asked about Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus who called Reid a “dirty liar” for making those allegations, Pelosi replied “who?”
Upon recollecting who Priebus was, Pelosi said “well he doesn’t know that.” She added, “Harry Reid is a person who is, as we know, A, is a fighter, B, he wouldn’t say this unless it was true that somebody told him that.”
Pelosi said she thinks that Romney should release his tax returns for the period in question and opined that, if he did not, “it’s a loser issue for him.”
The Huffington Post originally published Reid’s allegations against Romney after he first made that claim that the presumptive GOP presidential nominee paid no taxes for 10 years on the floor of the U.S. Senate. Reid has cited an “extremely credible source” who was an investor with Bain Capital while Romney ran the firm as the source behind those claims. Romney has said that Reid should “put up or shut up” and release the identity of that source, but Reid has thus far declined to do so.
