In the wake of the House passing a continuing resolution to defund Obamacare, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) said he hopes the vote acts as “a major step in letting people know that Ted Cruz is a fraud.”
As quoted by CNN, King said “I hope people will get the message this guy is bad for the party,” declaring that Sen. Cruz (R-TX) should “no longer have any influence in the Republican Party.” Cruz has been a leading Senate GOP voice in favor of tying Obamacare funding to government shutdown, a strategy which King has repeatedly likened to a military suicide mission.
“We can’t be going off on these false missions that Ted Cruz wants us to go on,” King continued. “The issues are too important. They’re too serious, they require real conservative solutions, not cheap headline-hunting schemes.”
As for the House GOP’s 230 to 189 vote to pass the resolution, King said he hopes the vote will signal to the Republican Party that it must “take more realistic and practical approaches” in the future.
