Well, that should be the final nail in their coffin.
How did we get to this place where the National Football League has allowed the inmates run the asylum.
We should never have to force Americans to stand for the National Anthem. Americans should be proud and respect the greatest country on earth. If they can’t do that from the heart, then they should find a country they can respect.
The NFL rule which is on the books a. Stand at attention with their hand over their heart during the singing of the national anthem b. Play legal football and quit telling us how to think. It seems the players do not want to obey the rules of their employment place. Thus, they are tired of working for their teams.
The NFL said on Friday it has no plans to mandate players stand for the U.S. national anthem, but will rather present a possible solution on how to end the controversial protests when it meets with team owners next week.
Commissioner Roger Goodell, along with the head of the NFL Players Association, will meet with the owners from Oct. 17-18 in New York where the issue of player protests during the U.S. national anthem is expected to command much attention.
“(Goodell) has a plan that he is going to present to owners about how to use our platform to both raise awareness and make progress on issues of social justice and equality in this country,” NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart said on a conference call.
“What we don’t have is a proposal that changes our policy, we don’t have something that mandates anything. That’s clear. If that was the case I doubt the head of the NFLPA would have put a joint statement out with us.”
Gerald McCoy of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers says there will be an uproar huh? If you are an NFL fan, you should be steaming right now and planning to stay away from the gridiron as long as possible.
The players are using the “freedom of speech” argument versus Patriotism and tradition, and they will lose this one badly.
The NFL is not enforcing their own rules on the books and allowing these grown juveniles to get away with disrespecting the National Anthem. I wish the players would take their passion and do something constructively versus insulting our service people.
