NFL Can’t Beat The ‘Kaepernick Curse’ as Stadiums Around the Country Look Like Ghost Towns, Ratings Take ‘Double Digit’ Dive

It’s starting to look and feel as if the #KaepernickCurse is still lingering around the NFL.

Weeks five and six of the new season have been some of the worst, with a slew of empty stadium seats all across the country. It appears as if the NFL still hasn’t completely recovered from Kaepernick’s anti-American anthem stunts.

Ironically, Kaepernick is still desperately trying to return to the league that he helped destroy. His management team however, isn’t have any luck getting him signed, and they’re flabbergasted at how all “32 NFL teams” have taken a pass on their client.

The statement said Kaepernick, who turns 32 next month, is cleared for employment even after filing a now-resolved grievance against the NFL.

Although former 49ers teammate Eric Reid joined Kaepernick in filing the grievance, Reid was signed by the Carolina Panthers while Kaepernick has been shunned, the statement said.

“Have you reached out to every team on Colin’s behalf?” read the statement, which used a question-and-answer format.

“I have reached out to all 32 teams about Colin’s employment, with little to no response from teams about an opportunity for Colin. In 25 years, I have never seen anything like it,” the response said.

“Has Colin ever had a workout with an NFL team?” another question read.

“No, not a single team has brought Colin in for a workout,” the answer to that question said. “Seattle brought Colin in for a visit but did not work him out. Afterwards, Pete Carroll said Colin is a ‘starter in this league.’ No other NFL team has interviewed or worked out Colin in the past 3 seasons, despite other false statements in the media to the contrary.” [Western Journal]

How clueless are these people? Colin Kaepernick is human toxic waste. Any team who touches him will be instantly infected, and end up as lost, forgotten, and over as he currently is.

Clearly, the relationship between fans and the NFL was damaged far more than the NFL ever realized, or cared to admit.

Just look at the Miami Dolphins stadium, during he 3rd quarter of a close game. It looks like a ghost town.

But it’s not just the empty stadiums that are the problem. The ratings for “Sunday Night Football” just hit a new season low, down a staggering “double-digits” from last week.

Still with all that, it is not looking like a win for SNF week to week or year to year.

In the non-adjusted fast-affiliate ratings, last night’s East-vs.-West matchup snagged a 3.9/17 rating among adults 18-49 and 12.53 million viewers. Not saying the Season 2 finale of Succession or the series end of the very NFL-centric Ballers on HBO took a big chunk outta NBC’s flagship NFL show, but those early numbers are a season low for SNF.

Of course, the fact that it was played in California and the fact that big live events like an NFL game always see greater-than-usual upticks in the final numbers have to be taken into consideration. However, right now, last night’s SNF is down double digits from both last week and the comparable game of last year in the fast affiliates (oh, how NBC right now must miss those old 56 metered market results that Nielsen cycled out a few weeks back.) Point of fact, the Steelers’ victory over the Chargers is down 22% from the early numbers of the previous demo season low of last week’s Indianapolis Colts’ much closer and more dramatic win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Compared to last year’s snapping of the Chiefs’ then-unbeaten streak by the New England Patriots, last night’s SNF crashed 36%.  [Deadline]
