NFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown isn’t pleased a group of parents allowed their eight-year-old children to disrespect the National Anthem and the American flag.
We have to remember and respect where Brown came from and how the NFL had “real racism” during his day when he played on the field. Brown never took a knee or brought politics on the field, and he’s been a breath of fresh air when common sense comes into play about these spoiled football players who kneel in protest of President Trump for calling them out when they disrespect the National Anthem.
Brown told TMZ, “I thought it was exploitation.” Many know how Brown has called out Colin Kaepernick for this disrespect of the National Anthem and how he felt the kids were manipulated by their parents to emulate Kaepernick.
Brown also went on to say how he does not disrespect our country, flag or national anthem. As a veteran, I agree with Brown in so many ways. I just do not support this group that could have turned this into a teachable moment and why the flag meant so much to America and what it stood for instead of pushing negativity.
Cahokia Quarterback Club coach Orlando Gooden used to play football at Mizzou, so he’d know a thing or two about standing with teammates for the Star Spangled Banner. But times are different, and with the Black community finding itself in a debate over whether or not to abstain from the tradition, in solidarity with NFL players who’ve led the way in doing so, avoiding the topic with his young African-American players hasn’t been easy. The conversation has without a doubt come up for Gooden, and he felt it only right to give them the specifics on why some of their favorite players on the television have been taking a knee.
“One of the kids asked me if I saw (people) protesting and rioting in St. Louis. I said yes; I said, ‘Do you know why they are doing it?’” Coach Green recounted for FOX2NOW St. Louis this week. “Because black people are getting killed and nobody’s going to jail,” he says the boy responded.
In the video report below, the kids even turned their backs to the flag which the coach said was a mistake. If it were a mistake, why didn’t the coach quickly fix it on the spot?
How do you feel about eight-year-old kids kneeling during the National Anthem and turning their backs? Did you see the Pittsburgh Steelers coach try to tell the media he didn’t want anyone out on the field during the National Anthem?
