All you’ve heard for the past couple days is “trade war, trade war” from our media who copied the language of the Chinese government.
Countries have been bleeding America dry over the years and not only has the media been silent about it, so has the Government. Nobody brought this to the attention of the American people, and the American people just thought it was business as usual.
Don’t you find it strange that the opposition media has been fighting against Pres. Trump when he has been trying to level out the playing field on these tariffs? It’s almost like they rush to report the negativity to hurt the stock market.
How did the American people not hear about this news from Angela Merkel?
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Thursday she would back lowering European Union tariffs on U.S. car imports, responding to an offer from Washington to abandon threatened levies on European cars in return for concessions.
The U.S. ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell, has repeatedly met with executives of German carmakers Volkswagen (VW) (VOWG_p.DE), BMW (BMWG.DE) and Daimler (DAIGn.DE) and automotive suppliers including Continental (CONG.DE), most recently on Wednesday, to discuss the issue.
Merkel said any move to cut tariffs on U.S. vehicles would require reductions on those imported from other countries to conform with World Trade Organization rules.
“I would be ready to support negotiations on reducing tariffs, but we would not be able to do this only with the U.S.,” she said.
Hmmm, seems like being willing to play hardball, keep ’em guessing or walk away from a deal isn’t such a bad thing, huh? In the past, we telegraphed our moves and made it clear we’d do anything so that we could be friends and liked (but never respected very much).
Paying four percent of your GDP to defend a continent across the oceans and expecting the very nations we’re defending isn’t really unreasonable. And, nor is expecting them to treat us as the invaluable trading partner and customer that we are.
But, then again, what would anyone expect to come out of past deals from the bloviating lawyers who’d never had jobs outside of elected office before?
Pres. Trump knows what he’s doing. He starts high, then concedes a little, and gets his way. We’ve got a businessman for a president – not a politician – and it’s working!
