Melania Trump Is Told To ‘Go Back To Slovenia’ Amidst Ilhan Omar Scandal

By Andrew S | July 20, 2019

Over the past few days, tensions have been rising between Donald Trump and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar ever since the president tweeted that she should “go back to her home country” if she hated the United States so much. Now, First Lady Melania Trump has been dragged into this, as CNN commentator Ana Navarro just said that she should be deported back to her birth nation of Slovenia.

The Washington Examiner reported that Navarro made the controversial remark when she was asked about Trump’s tweet.

“Well, I got news for Donald Trump and all of his supporters who feel the same way: this is our country. It is our country as much as it is the Trump’s country,” Navarro said. “And if we’re gonna start sending people back … Ted Cruz was born in Canada. Marco Rubio’s parents were born in Cuba. Melania Trump was born where? Slovenia. How about her parents who are here through family immigration?”

This comes after it was reported that Melania took issue with the “Send Her Back” chant in regards to Omar that was started at Trump’s North Carolina rally this week. Though the president did not start the chant himself and did not take part in it, The New York Times reported that Melania and her stepdaughter Ivanka were not pleased with it.

“Mr. Trump’s inner circle immediately appreciated the gravity of the rally scene and quickly urged him to repudiate the chant,” The Times reported. “Ms. Trump, his elder daughter and senior adviser, spoke to the president about it on Thursday morning, the people familiar with the discussions said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.”

President Trump did end up denouncing the chant, but he has since claimed that reports that Melania and Ivanka told him to do so are “fake news.”

“What did the First Lady and Ivanka advise you about the chant? I know you guys talked about it…” Trump was asked on Friday, according to Mediaite.

“False information,” Trump interrupted. “It was fake news.”

“You never talked about it with her?” the reporter asked.

“Nope,” Trump said, and added “We — I talked about it, but they didn’t advise me. They told me, but I didn’t…”

When the reporter asked what they said, Trump replied, “By the way, what you’re saying? Fake news.”

Many liberals have criticized Melania for not speaking out publicly to defend Omar, since she was born in another country as well. Through it all, Melania has remained loyal to her husband in public, just as any other First Lady would.
