McConnell Sides With DOJ To Not Release Full Mueller Report — Law Requires A Summary Only!

On Monday, Mitch McConnell, Senate Majority Leader, blocked a resolution which called for Special Counsel, Robert Mueller’s report to be released publicly.

The fact of the matter is this; the Special Counsel guidelines require Robert Mueller to send his report to the Attorney General only. The guidelines also say the AG should send a summary to Congress. Barr decided to make it public as well. So the public already has more information than the guidelines dictate.

They can’t make anything public that will slime innocent people or reveal sources and methods, so the whole report will not be made public.

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) asked for unanimous consent for the nonbinding resolution, which cleared the House 420-0, to be passed by the Senate following Mueller’s submission of his final report on Friday.

“Whether or not you’re a supporter of President Trump … there is no good reason not to make the report public,” Schumer said from the floor. “It’s a simple request for transparency. Nothing more, nothing less.”

But McConnell objected, noting that Attorney General William Barr is working with Mueller to determine what in his report can be released publicly and what cannot.

“The special counsel and the Justice Department ought to be allowed to finish their work in a professional manner,” McConnell said. “To date, the attorney general has followed through on his commitments to Congress. One of those commitments is that he intends to release as much information as possible.”

If Schumer wants to be transparent, let’s be fully transparent.

Let’s have all the communications between Barack Obama, James Comey and let’s not forget Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton on the tarmac. You want to pull transcripts and see background working information, let’s see all these transcripts.

Let’s see all the memos, the FISA order and the judge(s) who decided about the warrants. Let’s see it., Then you can have your report, losers.

There are likely hundreds of people named in this report who did nothing other than comply with a subpoena to talk with Mueller’s merry band of biased investigators and floating their names, and their testimonies out there for everyone to see is FINE, isn’t it, liberals?

There are many reasons why Barr couldn’t hand over the report un-redacted. If the report refers to grand jury testimony, identifies confidential witnesses, discloses sources and methods or discloses information subject to executive privilege the AG would be breaking the law he swore an oath to uphold to do so. Congressional whimsy does not trump the law (no pun intended).

It would be like a liberal to demand breaking laws. You do know that intelligence sources and methods are involved in this investigation and must be kept out of public light right? You also are aware that Federal Law prohibits the release of Grand Jury testimony right? You are also aware that prosecutors can not release any information that is inflammatory to persons NOT charged with a crime right?

What’s worse is that Democrats know this, they can’t be all that stupid. Democrats, without any exception, always operate on emotion.

Barr is following the law, and they want him to drop it and follow the rules as they see fit.
