Sen. John McCain got testy with a Fox News reporter when he was asked whether or not he is willing to work with President Trump on anything.
McCain didn’t like the line of questioning but it was well justified. If McCain wants to give a real explanation of why he stood in the way of repealing Obamacare, we are all ears. The plan McCain voted down expressly provided for many of the promises he ran on when he was reelected.
So it’s only a stupid question if there were some other good reasons for doing what McCain did, and McCain has not given a good reason for breaking his promises.
“Has your relationship with the president frayed to the point that you are not going to support anything that he comes to you and asks for?” Steve Doocy’s son asked McCain in the halls of the Senate.
“Why would you say something that stupid?” McCain replied, staring intensely into Doocy’s eyes. “Why would you ask something that dumb? Huh?”
“My job as a United States senator, is a senator from Arizona which I was just re-elected to. You mean that I am somehow going to behave in a way that I’m going to block everything because of some personal disagreement?”
“That’s a dumb question,” he concluded.
McCain goes back on campaign promises with no clear explanation of what changed. Then he gets asked whether his voting decisions have to do with his relationship with Trump, and he flips out. For now, he’s a hero for Democrats. Some consolation prize.
McCain NEEDS to be confronted. He’s been acting like a liberal Democrat since his brain cancer was diagnosed. If his cancer has impaired him, he needs to be institutionalized or replaced by the voters in Arizona. It is very important for all Republican Senators to be resolute in their opposition to the Democrat onslaught.
