Sen. John McCain penned an op-ed or someone did and slapped his name on it defying President Trump and calling for others to continue to stand against him.
McCain, who is suffering from brain cancer, returns to DC where he last raised thumbs down against Trump and repealing Obamacare. From the looks of the video, Democrats were in on decision as McCain delivered his choice. Many saw it as a traitorous move by the Arizona leader, who has been at odds with Trump since the early days of the primary.
Remember, McCain called Trump supporters “crazies,” which the media overlooked when they focused on Trump saying that McCain wasn’t a real hero.
McCain’s written piece was shared with Politico, and it’s one that needs to be recognized as an “enemy’s decree” against our leader and should be taken as such.
“We must respect his authority and constitutional responsibilities,” McCain wrote in a Washington Post op-ed Thursday night. “We must, where we can, cooperate with him. But we are not his subordinates. We don’t answer to him. We answer to the American people.”
Let’s be for real; you don’t even answer to the American people. You do what you want, when you want and claim you’re doing it for us when you don’t give a damn about anyone outside your ridiculous, petulant circle.
McCain made the plea to a Congress that faces continued gridlock as it returns from August recess next week, and wrote out how it is the responsibility of Congress to serve as a check to the president’s power — pointing to Trump’s lack of experience in public office.
If you want to take on Trump based on his lack of experience in public office, just remember the American people voted him in because he didn’t have Washington/Lobbyist ties and that’s what we wanted. We’re tired of your antics and fake love for us, and we don’t even want you back in Washington, DC to be honest.
“Congress must govern with a president who has no experience of public office, is often poorly informed and can be impulsive in his speech and conduct,” the Arizona senator wrote.
“We must be diligent in discharging our responsibility to serve as a check on his power,” he wrote. “And we should value our identity as members of Congress more than our partisan affiliation.”
It looks like to me, McCain is publicly telling others to defy Trump as it was probably an unwritten rule already. McCain is acting as if he’s the defacto leader and we didn’t vote for him either.
“Congress will return from recess next week facing continued gridlock as we lurch from one self-created crisis to another. We are proving inadequate not only to our most difficult problems but also to routine duties,” the senator wrote. “Our national political campaigns never stop. We seem convinced that majorities exist to impose their will with few concessions and that minorities exist to prevent the party in power from doing anything important.“
McCain is trying to lay the ground work for chaos when he returns to the Senate next week, and this Magna Carta is his declaration of defiance. What will the Senate do? How will the Republicans, who McCain turned his back on during the Obamacare repeal process act towards him?
