Maher Says He Could Have Been Aborted; Dem Says We’re All Here With “Consequences” Of Your Mother’s Choice

Comedian Bill Maher brought up the abortion topic on his HBO show last weekend but wasn’t ready for Democratic California Rep. Katie Porter to make him the butt of a joke dealing on the issue.

Maher was making light of 2020 Presidential candidate Joe Biden changing his abortion stance from what it was years ago when he was younger. Biden didn’t support federal dollars being spent on abortions, but now he does, as he tries to secure the Democratic nomination. Porter called out Biden for the switch as a political expediency switch.

Maher stressed that he was pro-choice, but he understood the seriousness of the issue which allowed him to bring in a personal story of his own, that the doctors had warned his mother to go through with her pregnancy that birthed him. That was turned into a joke by Porter, leaving Maher a little surprised, shocked and a little angry.

Maher: “They told my mother after my sister — very difficult birth — she shouldn’t have another one. So knowing I could’ve been on the cutting room floor … ”

Porter: “Your mom made her choice, and we’re all here with the consequences of that choice.” God bless Ms. Maher. God bless her for having you. I’m sure it wasn’t easy.”

Maher: “Again, I’m not arguing what you’re pretending I’m arguing, all of you on this panel,” an irritated Maher said before cursing at them again.

It’s just comedy, Bill.
