In 2012, when Susan Rice did the rounds on the Sunday political talk shows after the attack in Benghazi, and lied about what happened, blaming the attack on a Youtube video, and falsely claiming it was a small group of protesters, she set in motion a PR nightmare for the Obama administration, who at that time was seeking reelection.

Rice read from the talking points that were given to her by the CIA, and they were a pack of straight up lies. The CIA notes were not a “mistake,” as the Obama admin would later claim. This was the CIA trying to paint a totally different picture of what happened in Benghazi, so Obama wouldn’t suffer blowback during an election year…and it backfired.
When Americans balked at the fake story Rice was trying to sell, the admin went into a tailspin.
It was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the attack, where our ambassador, Chris Stevens was murdered, along with three other Americans, Glen Doherty, Sean Smith, and Tyrone Woods, was not caused by a Youtube video and was not a “random” uprising by local town folk. It was a coordinated attack, and Susan Rice was now the lying face of a botched coverup.
But guess who wasn’t the lying, disgraced face of the botched Benghazi coverup?
She should have been.
It was Susan Rice who took the lions share of the abuse and negativity, regarding Benghazi, which provided much-needed cover for Hillary Clinton, who, along with Obama, were the real faces of Benghazi.
A new book out from Susan Rice reveals that’s precisely what her mother believes – that Hillary Clinton set her daughter up to take the fall for Benghazi, and even said, “I smell a rat” about Clinton.
You can tell from the book excerpts below, that Rice has deep regrets and maybe even some animosity over how the Benghazi scandal played out. The fallout from the Sunday morning talk show tour forced her to withdraw her name for consideration to replace Hilary Clinton as secretary of state.
“Where is Hillary?”
That was the question then-U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice’s mother asked when she told her she would be appearing on all five Sunday morning political shows on Sept. 16, 2012 — just five days after the terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The plan was to appear in place of then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, at the White House’s request.
“I smell a rat,” her mother said. “This is not a good idea. Can’t you get out of it?”
The exchange was detailed in Rice’s new book, “Tough Love: My Story of the Things Worth Fighting For,” as she recalled what led to and what fueled the biggest political controversy of her government career — those appearances on “Fox News Sunday,” ABC’s “This Week,” CBS’ “Face the Nation,” NBC’s “Meet the Press,” and CNN’s “State of the Union.” Her flawed characterization of the attacks as resulting from a spontaneous protest later made her the target of GOP criticism that ultimately led to her withdrawing from consideration to succeed Clinton as secretary of state.
Looking back, Rice insisted in her book that she does not believe Clinton set her up – Rice’s mother feels differently – but recognizes that Clinton and National Security Adviser Tom Donilon likely knew what was coming.
“I do believe that Hillary Clinton and Tom Donilon appreciated what I did not,” Rice said. “The first person to tell the public about a highly political tragedy was likely to pay a price.” [Fox News]
I’m no fan of Susan Rice, she’s a totally crazed Obama cultist, however, I do tend to believe this account from her – the Obama admin and CIA needed a “warm body” to go on the talkshows and push out their fake talking points, in order to protect Obama’s reelection, and Hillary’s State Dept.
And in the end, the only one who really suffered was Rice. She lost out on career advancement and she’s been forever defined by that moment and branded a “disgraced liar.”
It doesn’t pay to be a dirtbag.
