Light Bulb Ban Beginning January 2014 Means More Incremental Loss Of Freedom

It should be of no surprise that our government, which has assumed the role of mandating our actions on something as intimate and important as choices related to our health, would then also want to regulate something as small and seemingly insignificant as a light bulb.

The efficiency standards outlines in the Energy Independence and Security Act, (EISA) make it illegal to manufacture or import 60 and 40-watt incandescent light bulbs after December 31 of this year.

As is the case when it comes to most encroachments on our freedom, the government moves incrementally. They do it in our ‘best interest’ and with each small, calculated step, they move closer to their goal of shifting all control and choice from the hands of individuals to the government.
