A couple of weeks ago, we published a piece that suggested John Bolton was the mastermind behind the Ukraine hit job.
One veteran political consultant in Washington tells Cockburn that Trump is afraid Bolton is the mastermind behind all the damaging leaks on his secret dealings with the Ukrainians; the whistleblower’s Deep Throat, if you will.
This, he believes, is why Trump’s cheerleader in the Senate, Lindsay Graham, keeps asking who was feeding the CIA whistleblower who came forward with details of a call between Trump and the Ukrainian president (in which Trump asked for dirt on the Democratic frontrunner, Joe Biden). Graham tweeted: ‘It is imperative we find out which White House official talked to the whistleblower and why. Why didn’t they lodge the complaint?’ The price of Graham’s support, the political consultant thought, would be an eventual military strike on Iran. [Spectator]
Well, it turns out that theory was right.
In that piece, we speculated over what Bolton knew about the July phone call between President Trump and Ukraine’s President.
The question now is, did Bolton know anything about the July pone call between President Trump and the Ukraine President?
If we had a decent senate, that was actually interested in finding out the truth and fighting back, Deep State swampers like Bolton, would be hauled into a hearing and forced to answer these type of questions under oath.
But we don’t, so we have to sit here and try and connect the dots, and dig for information, and speculate.
There’s not much more to speculate now that President Trump’s former top Russia advisor Fiona Hill testified in a “secret” impeachment hearing on Monday. Hill testified that it was Bolton who directed her to alert a lawyer in the NSC about his concerns over a “investigation that could implicate Biden and his son.”

President Donald Trump’s former top Russia advisor testified that former national security advisor John Bolton had directed her to alert a lawyer in the National Security Council over a July meeting between Ukrainian and U.S. officials.
Fiona Hill, the former senior director for Russian and Eurasian affairs, spoke under subpoena Monday before the House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight committees, telling lawmakers about the July meeting that left her and Bolton concerned about what The Wall Street Journal referred to as an “investigation that could implicate Biden and his son.”
Bolton reportedly advised Hill to alert NSC lawyer John Eisenberg following the July 10 meeting, she said during her nine-hour testimony according to the Journal. Hill left the administration days before Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s July 25th phone call which has sparked an impeachment inquiry by Democrats.
Trump’s former top Russia analyst was not part of his July call with Zelensky but was present, along with Bolton, at the July 10 meeting and had concerns about the president’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who was reportedly referred to by Bolton as a “hand grenade who’s going to blow everybody up,” according to The New York Times. It looks like Bolton really has it out for President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani and President Trump’s chief of staff Mick Mulvaney. Bolton reportedly told NSC that he was not part of whatever “Rudy and Mulvaney” were “cooking up.”
Giuliani’s involvement was characterized as a rogue operation by Hill as he worked with Gordon Sondland, the former European Union ambassador. The Times reported that Bolton and Sondland locked horns in the meeting, and Hill testified that Bolton told her to inform Eisenberg about Giuliani working with White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney in an effort to get Ukraine to launch an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.
“I am not part of whatever drug deal Rudy and Mulvaney are cooking up,” Bolton reportedly said to White House attorneys. [Bizpacreview]
No wonder President Trump got rid of Bolton and his sidekick Fiona Hill. However, it appears that Bolton’s damage has already been done, and now we’re faced with yet another never-ending investigation cycle that cowardly Republicans will sit back and allow to happen, with no ramifications or revenge.
Hopefully, moving forward, President Trump will avoid hiring GOP establishment neocon warmongers to serve in his White House. It’ll never end well.
