Rep. Ilhan Omar Says She’s Not Worried About Losing Her Committee Seats

Rep. Ilhan Omar apologized for anti-semitic statements after meeting with Rep. Nancy Pelosi, but it was half-hearted.

Reports are that Pelosi condemned Omar in a meeting for her statements, but we most likely know how that conversation went. Here are the tweets that got the Minnesota representative in trouble with both sides of the political aisle.

If it were an intense condemnation, Omar wouldn’t have added this little statement sweetener to her apology; “At the same time,” she added, “I reaffirm the problematic role of lobbyists in our politics, whether it be AIPAC, the NRA or the fossil fuel industry.”

Democrat leader Lee Zeldin said that Omar should be stripped of her committee assignments but he’s a man in the Democratic Party. Nobody is listening to him. The party is run by radical women whose agenda is almost complete.

According to House Democrat leaders, Omar will remain in her assignments which is probably why she’s not afraid:

House Democratic leaders do not plan to strip freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar of her committee assignments or take other action against her for comments they said were offensive and invoked anti-Semitic tropes.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said he takes Omar at her word that she didn’t intend to be anti-Semitic when she said lawmakers took pro-Israel stances because of political contributions from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

Omar has “unequivocally” apologized for the comments — after Democratic leaders called on her to do so — saying she did not mean offense or to invoke an anti-Semitic trope about Jewish money. At the same time, the Minnesota Democrat affirmed her opposition to lobbyists like AIPAC being involved in politics.

Hoyer said he didn’t think Omar equivocated in her apology and was forgiving of her comments so long as she doesn’t repeat them.
