Hold the Phones!! Hillary Clinton on Benghazi Terrorist Attack: “Everyone Had the Same Information”

Here is video from CBS News of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton last night saying “everyone had the same information” about the terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya that killed four Americans. Clinton made that statement even as she tried to take responsibility for the lack of security at the Consulate in Libya.

But if they all “had the same information,” why was President Obama, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice and others still saying it was just a spontaneous riot because of a video for many days after the attack. This despite testimony from State Department Officials last week that they never thought it was caused by the anti-Islamic video.

I believe Hillary Clinton has now very deftly boxed Barack Obama in on this scandal. By “taking responsibility,” she now appears to be the faithful soldier who is playing the role of scapegoat for Obama. If Obama is asked about this tonight – which he should be – what will he now say? If he agrees that Clinton is responsible, he will come off looking like a total jerk who has thrown Hillary under the bus for his own self-interest. If he says she was not responsible, then he has to accept the blame.

Meanwhile, Clinton comes off as the faithful Democrat who did all she could to help Obama, and has effectively inoculated herself from future attacks on the matter because everyone will think she just took the blame because Obama made her do it. Mitt Romney, I’m sure, will be ready to make hay out of this if the subject comes up in the next two debates – which it most assuredly will. Clinton’s move to bring this up on the eve of the debate tonight has almost assured that it will. Her statement in this interview “everyone had the same information” is the hammer Romney can now use against Obama.
