Hallmark Cutting Ties with Lori Loughlin After She Was Arrested For College Admissions Scandal

Lori Loughlin was a well-received actress on the Hallmark Channel, but after the college admissions bribery scandal, Hallmark Cards Inc. told the AP it would no longer work with her.

They have also stopped development on all of the productions she was involved in. Hallmark released this statement, “We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations. We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin, including ‘Garage Sale Mysteries,’ an independent third party production.”

Lori Loughlin‘s future (or lack thereof) with Hallmark has been decided. Crown Media will no longer be working with the actress — who is currently a series regular on the popular period drama When Calls the Heart, among other projects.

Fans of Loughlin’s work with Hallmark have been extremely vocal since news of her alleged involvement in the bribery scandal became public. Viewers have since flooded Hallmark’s social media channels, calling for her firing. “@LoriLoughlin shows or movies will no longer be played in my home,” wrote one angry fan on Instagram. “Should have hired her children a tutor and taught them better study habits.” Another added, “Personally, I don’t want to see her ever on Hallmark Channel again and it would be extremely disappointing to see Crown Media ignore her gross dishonesty.” [excerpt via TVLine]

No one should be shocked by this. Money has always been a big factor in college admissions. Super wealthy parents give grants or buildings etc. then anyone in their family gets admitted regardless of grades. Others do it behind the scenes. This is common practice. These people just got caught.

It seems a lot of young people in college knew this was going on and just rolled with it. How incredibly sad for the young boy or girl from 7th to 12th grade worked hard to get good grades and then participated in sports to ensure entrance into a college. I think what the FBI discovered here is just ‘the tip of the iceberg.’

College top administrators had to know what was going on and condoned it and possibly got payback themselves. The parents knew exactly what they were doing and should pay the price. I’m proud of the FBI (for once) for bringing this to the forefront. Every college in the U.S. should now be investigated for doing the same as the colleges indicated. Too bad the young ‘fresh out of high school’ children who applied to these colleges with merit and were refused can’t file a lawsuit against these parents and the college.

What they did was wrong and unnecessary, in my opinion. It should be dealt with in the courts. Let us all keep in mind, however, that had not Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman been involved in the sting; no one would be paying much attention to this story. Celebrity has its privilege, and it also pays its price. I do not doubt that both actresses work hard and long hours at their craft and it has nothing to do with the college scam.
