Gunman Uses Facebook before Death “Shooting it out with the police. I’ll see y’all in hell”

During the stand-off, friends say the 20-year old gunman updated his Facebook page, posting “Shooting it out with the police. I’ll see y’all in hell.” Friends say social media posts paint a disturbing, real-time picture of a young DeKalb County man killed in a shootout with police.

While Leake’s posts were unique because they happened in the midst of gun battle, police say they routinely monitor social media websites in an effort to identify potential threats.

The gunman’s posts were, at turns, defiant and despairing. Leake also apologized to his mother on Facebook, writing “Please don’t blame yourself. It’s all my fault.”
