Gowdy — I Haven’t Enjoyed My Time In Congress, Not A Lot To Show For Last Seven Years

Rep. Trey Gowdy, a popular legislator who come to prominence under the Tea Party wave in 2010, gave an interview to VICE that will leave you confused and saddened.

Gowdy is disgruntled with Washington, D.C., right now. He’s not liking what he is witnessing especially from the Republicans. Does this have anything to do with President Trump and the new administration? You won’t find that answer in the video interview below or then again you might.

Gowdy speaks about his entire tenure in Congress and how he felt it was a waste. He said he doesn’t have: “a lot to show for the last seven years” of his time in Congress, adding that the legislative branch is hampered by “ineffectiveness.”

Another confusing part of the interview is where he stated how we feel the country is going to suffer if our side doesn’t win, blasting the GOP for only wanting to win and nothing more.

“To the extent men judge themselves based on what they do for a living, I don’t have a lot to show for the last seven years,” Gowdy told Vice News Tonight on HBO in an interview.

Gowdy acknowledged the hyperpartisan nature of Congress, and that he’s not likely to run for political office again after he retires next year.

Gowdy, a former federal prosecutor who was first elected to the House in 2010, announced in January that he will not seek reelection and that he intends to return “to the justice system.”

He told Vice News Tonight that he hasn’t enjoyed his time in Congress, and that he’s counting the number of trips to the airport he has left before he finally leaves Washington.

“I can tell you right now I have 19 more drives to the airport before this session is over,” he said. “Nineteen more weeks for the rest of the year that I’m going to be gone three or four days away from home, and then after that I’ll be in South Carolina.”

How do you feel about this? Watch Trey below and tell me if he’s also taking shots at the Trump administration.

He’s been taking up for Special Counsel Robert Mueller since day one. He’s been attacking the GOP, and he even went after President Trump’s lawyers at one time. I don’t understand Gowdy right now. I don’t know where he’s going and if he feels his time in Congress is a waste, so be it.

Maybe one day, we will find a champion that doesn’t run from the fight and finally do what comes naturally and pass laws that help the American people.
