On Monday, Joy Behar, co-host of The View, Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) was on full display when they were memorializing George H.W. Bush.
Meghan McCain called out Behar over her TDS when they were supposed to be talking about H.W. Bush. Unfortunately, I also think she lacks some credibility since, although, to a lesser degree, she did the same thing in her own father’s eulogy.
I disagree with Meghan often, but she’s got a strong point. Joy likes to steer everything back toward “But Trump…” There’s a time and a place for that and trying to memorialize a past president is not that time.
On Monday’s The View, while the panel was discussing the passing of former President George H.W. Bush, co-host Joy Behar wanted to compare the good things he did for the environment and climate change, to the bad things that the current president is doing.
“He signed into law the Clean Air Act amendment of 1990, one of the most sweeping environmental statutes ever. This president that we have now is trying to unravel everything that he did, and Obama did. And if I ever become a one-issue voter, it will be about pollution and the greenhouse effect and the fact that –.”
That is as far as Behar got with her point, because fellow co-host Meghan McCain wasn’t having it.
“Can we focus on the president, please? I don’t want to talk about Trump,” McCain said, interrupting Behar.
“I’m not interested in your ‘one issue voter’ when we’re honoring a great president who passed.”

Leslie Stahl did the same thing while NBC was broadcasting the arrival of Bush’s casket on Air Force One today. Someone, of course, brought up the bogus grocery scanner story as an illustration of how out of touch with the common people Bush was, but surprisingly a couple of the other talking heads pointed out that it was completely fake news. Then good old Leslie couldn’t stand for that without putting in a Trump basing episode, went into how Trump had disrespected the Intel community and with so many of them being there today it was terrible that Trump had done so.
So for the three minutes, I had NBC on twice they tried to disparage either Bush himself or Trump while awaiting his casket to be lowered from Air Force One. It was positively disgusting. I will note that I didn’t tune into NBC, I turned on my TV to go to Investigation Discovery, but it initially went to live TV and was on NBC. Since it was about the arrival of Bush’s casket, I paused and watched it for a couple of minutes and was left swearing and disgusted almost immediately during which should have been a solemn and respectful reflection moment.
Behar reminds me of a delusional, cantankerous, and hateful old woman who uses vulgar language is always wasted, chain smokes cigarettes, and exposes herself to strangers.
