Garry Cobb says Democrat efforts to eliminate poverty have made things worse

Tara Setemeyer from TheBlaze spoke to former NFL linebacker Garry Cobb during a segment on Real News to discuss his congressional race in New Jersey. Cobb talked at length about why he is running, how he came to be a Republican and how his father’s influence aided in his success.

In recent weeks, Garry Cobb has made news due to his outspoken criticism of Democrat-backed welfare policies. He expanded on those criticisms today saying,

“During the 60’s they started with this eliminate poverty and you had the Great Society with LBJ and everything, but I look back and I realized that those programs started deteriorating and really started decimating African American families because it provided an incentive for the father to leave the home. And that has been traumatic. We can see that decades later that just wasn’t the answer. In fact, it made things worse.”

Cobb went on to say that while the Democrats have promised things will get better with big government and more spending, history has shown this has not been true.
