Fencing Champion Takes Knee During Pan American Games In Name Of Social Justice

Would someone please explain that to these athletes that they are representing their country. Preferably with good sportsmanship and pride. If they cannot do that, then they should leave before their event. I watch with pride of country; I wish they would play the same way. The sport and the country will not miss them!

Race Imboden took a knee on the medal podium at the Pan American Games, as the national anthem played and extended the reach of American social justice protests to the world of fencing.

He thought this was the way to call attention to himself…oh, sorry, these issues? Probably more people are reading this article than would have watched a fencing tournament.

Regardless of who is, and was the president of our country, in my lifetime, I have not always agreed with the policies of our president’s agenda. I always have and will continue to respect our flag, our country, and our constitution. We are a country that was formed on disagreement.

USOPC spokesperson Mark Jones said today: “Imboden’s protest contravened an agreement all athletes on the U.S. team signed that states they will not “make remarks or release propaganda of political, religious or racial nature, or any other kind” during the Games. Every athlete competing at the 2019 Pan American Games commits to terms of eligibility, including to refrain from demonstrations that are political. In this case, Race didn’t adhere to the commitment he made to the organizing committee and the USOPC. We respect his rights to express his viewpoints, but we are disappointed that he chose not to honor his commitment.

This means that Race had this planned all along and lied to the committee when signing his honor commitment. Typical Liberal.

Since he did not honor his commitment about “refraining from political demonstrations before the Pan Am Games,” he should be stripped of his medal and not allowed to participate in Tokyo. No one agrees 100% with the way their country is run, but since it is their country that got them where they are the least they can do is respect it throughout the sporting events.

By taking a knee what you did was divide this country, you say you hold so dear a little more. Instead of standing proud together with your teammates at the medal ceremony, you chose to show division and disrespect for our flag. Great Job!

Personal political opinions have no place on the sporting forefront, no matter at which level be it amateur, national, or international. These individuals with agendas of their own should be banned from participation.
