FBI Lawyer Tells Congressional Investigators Rosenstein Seemed Serious About Trump ‘Wire’ Comment

Somebody is lying and trying to save their job.

It seems that two FBI agents reported Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein when he supposedly was joking about placing a wire on President Trump in efforts to bring the 25th Amendment to fruition. Rosenstein said he was joking while the agents claim he wasn’t. The FBI lawyer, who the agents spoke to, informed Congress, he felt the claim was serious and acted accordingly.

Rosenstein should have known full well that invoking the 25th would be much more difficult than ordinary impeachment. I doubt ‘journalists’ or FIBbers would actually know how the 25th works, and so could imagine it being used in this case.

I know President Trump seems to have taken a liking to Rosenstein, but that isn’t in my wheelhouse right now. This is the same guy who hired Robert Mueller, extended the Mueller investigation, signed off on a bogus FISA warrant application — without reading it, stonewalled Congress, buried the first Uranium One investigation, whitewashed the Clinton Travelgate investigation, married a Clinton suck-up and perhaps spied on Trump for the purposes of invoking the 25th amendment?

If Trump had him by the short hairs, and now he’s on the team, why are the FISA, etc. docs still not declassified? That would be a decent indicator, don’t you think?

Two senior FBI officials told the bureau’s top lawyer they believed Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was “serious” when he discussed secretly recording President Trump and invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him from office last year, according to sources close to a congressional investigation – an account that conflicts with claims from Rosenstein and others that the comments either were inaccurately reported or made in jest.

Former FBI General Counsel James A. Baker told congressional investigators during a closed-door deposition last week that then-FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe and FBI lawyer Lisa Page came to Baker “contemporaneously” after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey in May 2017. Baker said Page and McCabe relayed details of the meeting where Rosenstein made the comments.

Though he wasn’t personally in that meeting, Baker told congressional investigators he took McCabe and Page’s account “seriously,” the sources said. Further, Baker told congressional investigators he suspected “Rosenstein was coordinating with two people in the administration to invoke the 25th Amendment,” a source said.

Baker, whose testimony was described as deliberate and sober, added he had not done a legal analysis and was unsure whether it was “unethical or illegal,” the source added.

The testimony would appear at odds with other accounts of those explosive discussions.

Why does Trump like about this guy? I don’t get it.

I think he could quickly get rid of Rosenstein by doing one thing: releasing the declassified FISA docs. They will, at a minimum show Rosenstein deceived the FISA Court. This is grounds enough to remove him and no one in the GOP could come to Rosenstein’s defense over this. Firing would be justifiable.

Is it me or does Rosenstein seems to think he’s the most powerful person in Washington? His arrogance and defiance know no bounds. He’s becoming a symbol of defiance and a role model for others in the Deep State. He shows them they can refuse to comply with lawful orders. This in itself is not good. Trump’s authority and control are being directly challenged. He had better do something about it.

I hope President Trump is biding his time and waiting till the Congress Republicans impeach and remove Rosenstein. He can then smile like a Cheshire cat, wash his hands like Pontius Pilate, and claim ‘I had no dog in this fight.’

Then he proceeds to name Noel Francisco as a replacement, and have him terminate the Mueller investigation if he sees fit.

WATCH THIS:

Rosenstein is running out the clock, betting that the Democrats will win control of the House on November 6th. Doesn’t it seem that Speaker Paul Ryan is helping the Democrats win with his passivity and occasional snarks at President Trump who is having to do too much campaigning on his own?

I don’t trust Rosenstein and I don’t like playing with deep state officials when you have the ability to get rid of them. The object is to drain the swamp, not play with it.
