NEWSNINJA2012 REPORTS: EW Jackson Shocks Naysayers and Becomes Lt Governor Nominee from VA State Republican Convention – VIDEO

It was after 9pm EST last night at the Richmond Coliseum, and this conservative blogger who loves politics was as happy as a pig in slop. Why do I use that analogy? Because the 4th round of nominating a Lt Governor was taking place. The winners from the previous round were Bishop EW Jackson, Peter Snyder, and Corey Stewart. This was the heavyweight battle of champions that you only see on television once in a blue moon, and I was able to take part.

In a nutshell, EW Jackson didn’t really have a chance to win in many of the attendees’ eyes. They loved the way he spoke, and they loved his politics, but it seemed that other candidates had more supporters on the ground in the way of posters all over the arena, outside the coliseum, and just about everywhere. There are some liberal pundits who won’t leave well enough alone and will define EW Jackson as an extremist because of his religious values.

One thing you will never hear them call Jackson, and he has earned it – A winner!

Below are quick videos that I took of the event, and I hope you enjoy them. It was super electric on the floor of the coliseum as you will see when you watch the video.

The night really took flight after the 2nd round which lasted until the last sound of the winner. What do I mean? EW Jackson won the 2nd round with 4,578 votes but still lacked the 50% threshold of winning the entire contest. Scott Lingamfelter and Susan Stimpson didn’t move on after the 2nd round of votes. I added a few videos to show you how it was on the floor of the convention at the time of the reading of the votes. Imagine this, being there your first time and experiencing the drama like it unfolded. I can’t even bring you to my level of excitement. I didn’t realize it enough to record the first reading of votes, but I didn’t miss anything past that.

At the beginning of the 3rd round, EW Jackson’s supporters took to the floor of the coliseum, creating a conga line that included posters of his campaign. Peter Snyder’s supporters joined in right after that, and then Corey Stewart’s supporters joined in. I mean, they were walking past each other, yelling their candidate’s name, and showing team spirit. You would be so proud!

The third round of votes was just as good as the 2nd. Stewart, Snyder, and Jackson remained, and the crowd basically erupted when they saw the results from the 3rd round of votes. Sure, Snyder had reached the #2 spot, but it seemed that Jackson was getting more votes and distancing himself from Stewart and Snyder. The more it seemed that Snyder wanted it, the more it seemed Jackson was grabbing hold of the momentum and suffocating it.

Then it was down to two. Snyder and Jackson! The heavyweight contenders were now in the big dance, and the first to 50% would be the Lt Gov nominee from the Republican Party of Virginia. The Sergeant At Arms told voters they had 60 minutes on the vote, and it almost took all of it. But something funny happened on the way to the forum. Flyers were distributed noting Corey Stewart, who had dropped out of the race, had joined Pete Snyder’s ranks, and if that was to happen, then it would probably be over for Jackson.

Here is a photo of the flyer that was sent around by Pete Snyder’s campaign that rocked the entire floor. The only problem is Stewart never endorsed Snyder. This was dirty pool at the worst moment in the campaign. For a candidate to do this and destroy his integrity was so strange to watch as it developed LIVE, but there it was. Snyder’s box suite even made noise about there being an endorsement. But then something else happened. Stewart went directly to EW Jackson on the floor, and talked with him briefly, and then both starting parading around with arms raised as a partnership. Stewart just endorsed Jackson, which really sealed the fate of Snyder who conceded the loss to EW Jackson.

With this concession by Snyder, EW Jackson won the nomination to represent the Republicans of Virginia as their Lt Governor. I am happy that I was there to watch it unfold.
