CPAC 2014 – My Journey, What A Difference A Year Makes

I am looking out of the window of seat 12A as my plane approaches Reagan National, the city of DC and it’s monumnets lit by a quarter moon. Somehow this seems so normal to me now, and yet it is anything but.

My mind races about what must be done once we land.  Get to the Gaylord, pick up my credentials and read over the bios of those who will be interviewed on the Wayne Dupree Show tomorrow at CPAC.

When I power on my phone, the notifications start fast and furious, but one email catches my eye.  It is from Senator Ted Cruz’s Press Assistant inviting our team to a blogger briefing with the Senator.  A meeting with Senator Ted Cruz!

If you are thinking I was stoked, you would be wrong.  I should be, but I am frustrated.  Frustrated because a time is not included so I can figure out if I can get to the meeting between the show’s scheduled interviews. Interviews with TPNNs Scottie Nell Hughes, Fox News Contributor Lauren Ashburn, Comedian Evan Sayet, Former Secret Service Agent and US Congressional Candidate Dan Bongino, and musician, writer and producer Chris Loesch.  WTH, I’ve clearly lost my mind, it’s Ted Cruz!!

The day is March 5, 2014 and the journey bringing me to the landing in DC has been a ride, one that began in the Fall of 2012.

In less than two years, I find myself in a place I never intended, nor dreamed I would be. It is humbling, exciting, and at times, it is a struggle.  The one thing it is not, is of my making.

As I write today, I am fully aware of God’s presence in my life and his works. Works that at the time may have gone unnoticed, or if noticed were misunderstood, yet so clear to me today.

God placed Sara Marie Brenner in my life who gave me an opportunity to write for a larger audience. She and Richard Baris took an averagely written piece and made it sing. I remember reading the first article they edited and thinking, who wrote that!  It led me to my dear friend ‘Boss’ who without knowing me personally made it his cause to get my articles out to more people through social media, and he led me to one of my most treasured friends, Wayne Dupree.

wayne and stacy

Wayne, who is so passionate about spreading conservatism, and so gracious in spirit that he added me to his team of conservative voices offering us each an opportunity we may not otherwise have had. It has been quite a journey culminating in a spot on radio row interviewing people I have admired for years from a far.

During the journey, I am exhausted often and at times discouraged at the uphill battle faced, but as we land in DC I find myself again energized.

I’m ready. I’m blessed, and I am grateful.

I hope you will listen to The Wayne Dupree Show LIVE from #CPAC2014 from 11 am – 3 pm through Saturday.  You will not be disappointed!
