Rep. Nancy Pelosi has been leading her version of the resistance while the Marxisteers (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib) have been conducting their own.
Pelosi has been fighting against building the wall for a while now to the detriment of the Democratic Party. She once said Democrats wouldn’t be giving anything toward the southern border wall which separates Mexico and Texas.
Before I go on, the wall has been deteriorating for years, and it’s not complete. There is an area in Texas where the wall ends so if any illegal journeyed that far, they could walk around the barrier into the United States.
How this isn’t an essential topic for Congress is beyond me. Alas, the Pentagon has fixed the funding problem, if not for the short haul. Just over a week ago, the Pentagon awarded it’s first few contracts to a few companies, so you know Pelosi was steamy because of it.
The announcement said one contract went to SLSCO Ltd. in Galveston, Texas. The company was awarded a $789,000,000 firm-fixed-price contract for border replacement wall construction.
“Work will be performed in Santa Teresa, New Mexico, with an estimated completion date of Oct. 1, 2020,” the announcement said.
The second contract went to Barnard Construction Co. Inc., based in Bozeman, Montana. The company was awarded an $187,000,000 firm-fixed-price contract for design-bid-build construction project for primary pedestrian wall replacement.
“Work will be performed in Yuma, Arizona, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 30, 2020,” it said. [Breitbart]
Did you see the completion dates? Trump usually likes things to come in early, and under budget so this could be very interesting.
Again, I would like to be a fly with the rest of the flies on Pelosi’s office wall to see how she’s handling the idea of portions of the wall being done in the heat of the Presidential election.
I think we all agree the last thing the Socialists and old school Democrats want is to have President Trump spiking the football on completing portions of the border wall weeks before voters head to the polls.
That would be a huge subject to run for his next term. “Help me finish what we started to secure the safety of Americans and their families.” Imagine that. That would inspire a few more supporters to come out of the woodwork to support Trump especially when the Democrats want to portray Trump as a failure on his signature issue.
We will stay on this story to keep you up-to-date on any new developments.
